1st MENA Conference:

The Malta Emergency Nurses' Association will be organizing the ist Emergency Nursing conference in Malta on the 8 and 9th October 2008. The theme for this conference is "Working together....The importance of networking in emergency care."

M.E.N.A signs 4yr deal with CENA

The Malta Emergency Nurses' Association signed a 4 year deal with CENA (College of Emergency Nursing, Australasia) and now we are officially affiliated. Thanks to our IRO for this great achievement.

M.E.N.A signs agreement with the Malta Union Of Midwives & Nurses.

The Malta Emergency Nurses' Association signed a two year agreement in which we now form part of the educational section of the MUMN. This was decided after a vote cast taken during the AGM. We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate ourselves with the new executive comittee of the MUMN.

Independence 2006

M.E.N.A was invited to put a stand during the Independence feasts 2006.

During these five days M.E.N.A officials and members had the opportunity to meet with the general public and discuss emergency issues whilst demonstrating some basic skills on how to deal with certain emergencies.

Prime Minister and Ms. Gonzi visited our stand where the importance of emergency nurses and other professionals in the emergency department.

Mr. Trevor Abela Fiorentino and Mr. Quentin Chetcuti discussed other issues with Dr. Gonzi, especially pointing out the stress and hectic life of a nurse working in an emergency department thus making the place a very sensitive area since emergencies has to be dealt immediately.

M.E.N.A meets the President Of Malta

 

Members of MENA committee attended an official private meeting in the president's palace in Valletta with his Excellency the President of Malta Dr. Edward Fenech Adami on the 2nd June 2006.

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Abela Fiorentino presented a memento to His Excellency.

M.E.N.A Membership

To qualify as a full member one has to:

-Be registered with the maltese 'Council of Nurses & Midwives' (CNM)

and

-Performs nursing duties in an A and E and/or in Pre-Hospital setting (Part/Full Time or voluntary) for more than 12hrs a week.

or

-Holds a valid qualification in A and E nursing, pre-hospital nursing or equivalent.

To qualify for associate membership one has to:

-be a 1st or 2nd level nurse.

or

To qualify for student membership one has to:

-be a NURSING student.

or

To apply as affiliate membership one has to:

-anyone non-nursing individual who is interested in accident and emergency care.
